Amina Abubakar, PharmD, AAHIVP, is the CEO and owner of Avant Pharmacy & Wellness Center (formerly known as Rx Clinic Pharmacy) in Charlotte, NC. Her entrepreneurial journey began when she graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy University of the Sciences in 2005. As Amina’s passion for patient care evolved, so did her commitment towards advancing the profession. In 2017, Amina founded Avant Institute of Clinical Pharmacy where she serves as President. Her passion for furthering the impact and success of clinical pharmacy services is realized through the Avant Institute via a dynamic educational platform she has established through online learning, webinars and consultations with pharmacies across the United States.

In addition to being a Certified HIV Specialty Clinical Pharmacist, Amina serves as a preceptor to a variety of academic fellows, residents and students from several schools of pharmacy. She has fostered an environment that showcases the significance and impact of patient care of community pharmacists by collaborating with medical providers and expanding pharmacist led clinical services in her community.

Amina has continued to advocate for the profession through her service and commitment to advancing advocacy education through a multitude of organizational relationships she has established over the years.  Amina serves as a board member for Pharmacogenetics Center of Excellence, a non-profit dedicated to advocacy for the profession of pharmacy in pharmacogenetics. She was invited to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and to the FDA to discuss the role of pharmacists in pharmacogenomics. Amina also serves as a Luminary for CPESN USA, where she helps other community pharmacists to facilitate the advancement of CPESN networks. Recently, Amina has been collaborating with various local community organizations with their efforts to tackle the challenges of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) impacting patients both locally and abroad.

Along with her numerous scholastic publications and presentations, Amina continues to be a leader in investing in the pharmacy profession and advocating for pharmacists’ roles as innovators and pioneers in the novel value-based health care models that are transforming patient care today.
