Meet our new resident, Keith Yon:
What should we know about you?
I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and I am ecstatic to be able to able to serve patients in the community where I grew up. Like many others on our team, I am passionate about working directly with patients to overcome barriers in achieving their goals and improving their health. I feel very lucky to be part of a driven team that has an established history in delivering top of the line patient care. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, and watching Tar Heel basketball.
Why did you choose pharmacy?
I am proud to be a second-generation Tar Heel pharmacist. From a young age, I was able to see firsthand the impact that my father had on the lives of his patients, and I knew that I wanted to follow his example before I even began high school. I like to think of myself as a people person, and I love that pharmacy allows me to connect with patients on a regular basis in order to develop a personal relationship with each of them.
Where do you see your career/pharmacy heading?
After this year, I hope to have a dual role where I can work towards the development and implementation of clinical services that advance community pharmacy practice, as well as practice in an ambulatory/primary care setting. I owe all of my accomplishments thus far to the professors and mentors that I have had throughout my pharmacy training, and I hope to give back to the profession in a similar way by serving as a pharmacy school educator and preceptor as well.
What makes Avant Pharmacy & Wellness the go to place for all professionals in this field?
Throughout my pharmacy training, I have had exposure to many different community pharmacy practice settings. As pharmacy, and healthcare overall, adapts to the requirements of a value-based model, Avant Pharmacy & Wellness serves as a visionary within the industry through its unique clinical services and collaboration with other healthcare professionals that enhance the care our patients experience.
